MISSION STATEMENTThe mission of The Kuhnert Arboretum is to cultivate relations between people, trees, plants and nature in a setting that provides opportunities for education and discovery.
The Kuhnert Arboretum provides many new learning experiences for the residents of the Aberdeen area, including school-aged children. The Arboretum offers environmental education about:
- Native plant ecosystems
- Prairie community environments
- Species of trees and shrubs grown in the area
- Water systems
- Wetland communities
The Arboretum Plan contains arboretum settings with shade trees, ornamental trees, coniferous trees and shrubs, deciduous shrubs, and other plantings. The plan includes an outdoor interpretive center, Children's Area, walking trails, Rose Garden, irrigation system, and interpretative signage throughout the arboretum.
