Just for Fun

Registration for all Winter/Spring Classes will begin Monday, January 6, 2020. Programs are filled on a first-pay, first-served basis, preregistration by the published deadline is required. Payment can be made by credit or debit card by phone or by check or cash in person. Online Registration also available. All classes are subject to 6.5% sales tax. OPEN STUDIO


The ARCC offers room to spread out, and work on your own projects in an open studio setting with other artists. Weekly on Thursdays, pending other programming, space will be set aside for those who would like to come in to work on projects. All supplies are to be provided by participants; however, some equipment such as paper cutters, glue guns and other items may be used upon permission. Open studio meets from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. each Thursday through April. Participants must check in with the front desk on studio location each week.

ART BREAK - GUIDED OPEN STUDIO


Keep your mind and spirit healthy! Come to the ARCC for some drop in, DIY art therapy through self-directed activities! Studies have shown that Art can take your mind off of what is stressing you. The Open Studio sessions are not product oriented – just enjoy the process! Activities can vary from art journaling, coloring, creative drawing from pattern recognition, scrapping, zentangle art, and creative writing. Or work on your own projects brought from home, and work in a relaxing stress free atmosphere. Sessions meet weekly. Some supplies are provided for activities listed, or you may bring your own in! Remember – we aren’t concerned about creating works of art (although it may be a by-product), just the act of letting our activity take us away! Ages 18 and up.

COMIC CREATOR CLUB


Like making comic books? So do we! This club will meet once a month to talk about all aspects of creating comic books or comic strips. From writing to illustration, either traditionally or digitally. Anything related to the creation of comics is welcome. Creators can work in a positive like-minded group, and will have the opportunity to bounce ideas off of each other and receive peer critiques, and positive criticism. There is no charge for attending the Comic Creator Club. Ages 12 and
up.

BACKYARD ASTRONOMY FOR BEGINNERS


Did you know you can see a galaxy 2 ½ million light-years away with your unaided eyes? Craters on the Moon with binoculars? Countless wonders await you any clear night. The first step in astronomy for beginners is simply to look up and ask, “What’s that?” This class will introduce you to a lifetime of enjoyment viewing the night sky. Bring your binoculars, telescope or nothing. People wishing to participate should put their name on the interest list at The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Office by calling 626-7015.
